plan2ride Cycle Cafe

The client had acquired a prominent property along the popular ‘Taff Trail’ cycle route in Tongwynlais.  The brief was to transform the existing derelict garage into a functional, inviting space for visitors & provide a workshop for repairs.

The scheme aimed to maximise the feeling of space & light by using exposed trusses and ceiling lights.  Bi-folds open up the gable end to the south to a yard, doubling the sitting space in good weather and providing a suitable place for muddy cyclists in winter & a secure bike store.  Internally the exposed timber is continued with other naturally hardwearing materials, suitable for the rough and tumble of exhausted cyclists.

To top it off they serve great coffee and cake so pop in if you’re in the area!
