James King Architects is a contemporary Architecture practice based in Cardiff. We specialise in the residential sector, focussing on new build houses / developments, renovations & extensions as well as some small scale commercial and leisure projects.

 

Background

Having graduated from Cardiff University in 2006, James went on to work for a number of national and international, award winning practices, gaining experience in a variety of sectors.  

 

After renovating his first house in 2008 he was commissioned for a number of bespoke residential & commercial projects.  Following their success, he aspired to create a practice of his own based on creative pragmatic design and excellent project delivery.

 

Practice Ethos

James believes in responding to the individual requirements of clients and site with a clarity of concept, focussed on space, light, materiality and of course budget!  The aim is for an understated architectural solution that feels ‘natural’ rather than something of conflict with its surroundings.

 

‘I‘m passionate about engaging with clients, engineers and builders, seeing a project come to life.   Being able to impact and control the different facets at an appreciable scale is very satisfying.   It’s communication and caring about the little details that can make a big difference.’

 

James is also a qualified passive house designer with expertise in bringing more environmentally friendly solutions to the construction industry.
